Grid Storm strategy: protect the multiplier and build a killer loadout
How auto-fire, geoms, upgrades, Novas, gravity wells and the Warden really work, and how to survive the swarm for longer.
PLAY A FREE ROUND ↗Let the ship shoot; you dodge
Grid Storm fires for you, always at the nearest enemy, five shots a second to start. Your job is movement. Keep to open space, circle the swarm instead of cutting through it, and watch the edges: enemies arrive there behind a warning ring, never right next to you.
The multiplier is your score
Every kill drops geoms. Fly through them to raise the multiplier: one step per geom up to ×20, then one per two geoms to ×50 and one per four to ×99. A kill pays its points times the multiplier, so at ×40 you score forty times faster. Losing a life resets it to ×1, and geoms fade after nine seconds.
Pick upgrades that fit
Each level offers three of ten upgrades. Rapid Fire, Twin Cannon and Spread Shot multiply your fire; Piercing Rounds pass through enemies; Orbit Blades guard you up close; the Geom Magnet widens your pickup reach; Thrusters speed you up; Chain Spark arcs a kill to a neighbour; Nova Core holds one more Nova; a Shield Cell adds a life (five at most). An early Magnet makes the multiplier much easier to keep.
Spend Novas, do not hoard them
Space or the Nova button destroys every enemy on the field (base points, no multiplier), wipes enemy shots and hits a Warden hard. You start with one and earn one each level, holding three (more with Nova Core). A Nova still in the bank when you lose a life did nothing for you.
Read the enemies
Drifters wander and bounce. Seekers home in. Splitters break into three fast minis. Dashers stop, flash a line where they will charge, then dash: step off the line. Spitters glow just before an aimed shot. Gravity wells pull in you, your geoms and the swarm, swallow enemies and grow; break one for a big burst.
The Warden
Every fifth level a Warden boss spins a ring of shield plates, fires rings of slow orbs and calls seekers. Shoot plates away or find a gap and hit the core; a Nova cracks it too. Beat it for a big bonus and a life.
